If you're new to poker, then surely you are wondering what Texas holdem nuts mean. It refers to the best possible hand combination in poker at that particular moment. A lot will depend on how much of a nut hand that a player has; a poker player may have the best possible hand after the flop, however that hand may be beatable on the turn or the river. It might seem wonderful for a player to flop his nut hand, but the truth is it isn't great as it looks. It will only work for him if he knows how to play it appropriately in order to win.

According to some poker pros, having the nut hand is all about getting your opponent's chips. During the game, you wouldn't want the other players to fold, instead you will want them to stay in the pot and make it grow. The ideal situation would be to extract as many chips as you can from your opponents as the hand progresses.
If in case a player's hand is not too strong, the best thing for him to do is to usually place a bet which is just a little lower the pot size. By doing that strategy it will give the other players at the table small chances to call. Well others may choose to fold, but likely, most of the players will go all in, and since you have the nut hand obviously your action would be to call.
On the other hand, a player should take a totally different approach if his hand is really good. He should bet just enough to make the other players call and stay in the pot.

You should always remember that in Texas holdem poker play of the hand is greatly affected by a player's seating position, and of course by the pocket cards which are the only advantage he has from the other players at the table. This is of course, due to the reason that all the community cards at the table are shared with the other players.

Where is the best place to play a poker tournament in Vegas?
I will be there Fri to Sunday and would like to play idealy on Friday. I’m looking for a tournament where they don’t jack the blinds up quickly and it becomes an all-in fest. I don’t want to pay more than $100, ideally less if possible. Thanks for the advice.
Here are a couple places that I have found to play and are in your money range.
1. Planet Hollywood – My favorite! I really liked playing here!!! I believe it was a 7pm game for $60 and they gave $4000 in chips.
2. Stratosphere – They have a $60 dollar game also that is every few hours. You can check their site for times.
3. Paris – They have a $65 dollar game that is every few hours also.
4. There are a couple others at the Luxor and Ceasers that are under $100 but not sure if they run on the weekends.
First thing to do when you get to Vegas, go to the first poker room you can get to and pick up on of the FREE cardplayer magizines and flip to the back. There is a list of all the tournaments at each casino in there. This will help you out plus you will have something to read on the plane flight home! Have fun!
What are the best places to play tournament poker with cheap buy-ins and good structures in Vegas?
Most every casino has $40-$80 NL tourneys daily. Generally these are during the week, late morning through late afternoon. These tourneys attract between 40 and 75 people in general. Several casinos have one per day, some have more. Some have sit and go style for tables of 10. The rules are pretty much the same as what you see on TV and most pay the top 3-5 places and allow those in the money to chop the pot if they agree.
Nights and weekends and higher class casinos (Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage, etc.) have higher buy in tourneys, generally starting at $100.
