A Review of the 500 Jackpot Casino Poker Chip Set

Have you ever wanted to own a poker chip set for your home that would give off a casino feel? While the red, white and blue plastic chips can do the job, they don't even compare to a real casino chip. Recently, we took a look at the 500 jackpot casino set that Poker Stars Direct has to offer to help you realize just how big of a difference it can be. Get ready to change the way you and your friends play poker.

The Benefits Of Real Casino Chips

You probably already know what the first benefit is when you own a casino poker chip set right? How about not having to remember what red, white and blue plastic chips stand for in a poker game. It happens all the time when someone thinks they're betting , but their really betting . No thanks! That's just a quick route to the ATM. If you have a professional, casino style set, that won't happen anymore. Why? Well, the denominations are on the chips.

Poker Chips With Denominations

The next benefit comes from counting the money at the end of night. If you are having a game where people are buying into it, denominations are so much easier to count. Especially when plastic poker chips sometimes change in size over time and you can't stack them for the proper amount like dealers do at any casino. Your friends and family will thank you later for a smooth night of dealing and collecting. Those who win will thank you even more.

We could go on forever about all the benefits of casino style poker chips, but you get the idea. The last benefit we wanted to talk about is the professional appeal real poker chips give your players. Many of them like to try to use the chips as an intimidation piece by doing tricks with them or just playing with them before making that all-in move. For those who enjoy this type of strategy might even tip you later just for having such an extravagant setup.

One thing to remember is the denominations are not labeled and are actually embedded into the poker chips themselves.

The mahogany case will be a great presentation piece as it sits on the table right before the buy-in. People will be wondering where you purchased such a stylish set of poker chips. Then that's when you'll tell them about Poker Stars Direct. Pretty soon, everyone will be owning great looking poker supplies so no matter where you go, every game will be a good one.

The Overall Analysis

Okay, you already know we love what a jackpot casino poker chip set can do for you game. The question is what can it do for your pocketbook. Normally, something of this magnitude costs somewhere between 0-0. Poker Stars Direct has it for almost 40% off the regular retail price. I don't think we need to tell you the kind of deal that can be if you take it. When you get a chance, just go over and take a look. We know you'll like what you see.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Poker Chips Denominations Question?
I am going to purchase a set of 500 Poker Chips and I have to choose how much of each denomination I want but I'm not sure how much of each to get? My choices are , , , 0, 0, 00, 00. I didnt know if i should go with 150- 100- 75- 50-0 50-0 50-00 and 50-00 input would be great. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
It depends on whether you will be playing a tournament or a cash game, and also how many players you are planning to accommodate.

A standard tournament setup usually consists of 25's 100's 500's and 1000's. Some people prefer to use chips and leave out 1000's. The reason being that the gap between denoms should usually be 4-5x. Also, with either setup you can also use them for cash games (5's as nickles, 25's as quarters etc.)

As for breakdown, you need to figure out your starting stack. your starting stack should generally be 100x your big blind. I like to run a T5000 tournament, with blinds starting at 25/50, cash game with blinds at 5c/10c. You generally want between 10 and 20 chips of the first and second denoms, and a little less of the higher ones. For my T5000 tourney, I use starting stacks of:

      25x12
      100x13
      500x7

This gives you lots of 100's (your workhorse chip) and also leaves your 1000's for rebuys. so if you have 10 people just times that by 10...

      120 x 25
130x 100 (you may want extra to color off 25's)
      70 x 500

plus some 1000's for rebuys. (30) That leaves you 100 chips to spare, so you might want to get extra just in case your game grows over time.

  2. QUESTION:
How do I distribute 600 4-color poker chips in a home game of five card draw?
I am planning a ladies monthly poker night, if we each put in twenty dollars and there are five of us, how should I split the chips up? What would be the denominations of the chips? Do you play till there is only one left with chips for the whole pot, or if its by denomination, can you split the pot at the end of the evening based on what chips everyone has?

    • ANSWER:
**mrwonderfull - you're starting to make me dizzy with your CAPS LOCK** :

You need to make 1 important decision - do you want this to be a Tournament or do you want this to be a straight CASH game?

If you make it a tournament, you'll set up some rules so that by the end of the night, 1 person has ALL the chips. Perhaps the person that came in 2nd place wins and the person that came in 1st place wins . (Maybe for 2nd and for 1st.)

If you decide on a tournament, do a search for "how to set up a 5-card draw tournament". Tons of people have created many different workable ways to do this.

If it were me, I'd stay with the "CASH" game. This is WAY easier, and basically what you win is what you keep.

I've got friends that like to play for only in a fun home game we play once in a while. For that, we set a 5-cent minimum and a 25-cent maximum bet for the night.

If you're each buying in for , I'd go with a 25-cent minimum bet and either a 1-dollar, or .50, or .00 maximum bet. I think with 5-card draw I'd go with a 1-dollar maximum bet BEFORE the draw, and a 2-dollar maximum bet AFTER the draw.

If you like this system, here's the way to break it down: Assign 1 color as 25-cent chips, 1 color as 50-cent chips, and 1 color as 1-dollar chips.

You can do 1 of three things with the fourth color: 1 - Forget about it and just use 3 colors. 2 - Make them 2-dollar chips. 3 - Make them 10-cent chips for a 10-cent ante each game. You all might like a 10-cent ante rather than a 25-cent ante. Think it through - in a 10-cent ante game, there will be 50 cents starting each pot. If you have to do a 25-cent ante, that will mean a .25 in the pot before the cards are dealt. It's up to you as to how much you want to ante.

If it were me, I think I'd go with the 4th color being 10-cents each so everyone could ante 10-cents at the start of each hand. (That would be the ONLY purpose of the 10-cent chips.)

If you like how I've laid it out, here are the starting chips I would give folks for their 20-dollar buy in:

10 X 10-cent chips. (You'll need 50 of those total to accommodate the 5 of you.) (.00 total)

      20 X 25-cent chips. (You'll need 100 of those.) (.00 total)

      18 X 50-cent chips. (You'll need 90 of those.) (.00 total)

      5 x .00 chips. (You'll need just 25 of those.) (.00 total)

This is just a guide. I don't think you should stray too much from my suggestion, but stray away to suit your needs and desires for a fun game!!!

When the night is over, each person count their own chips. What they have is what they get!

Have some change around so you can give people exact change at the end. (Or tell people to buy in with 18 dollars plus 2-dollars worth of change.)

  3. QUESTION:
    Poker chips for home play?
I'm looking to invest in a good quality poker chip set for home play. Which is better to have, chips with denominations or without?

    • ANSWER:
I have a big set without denominations, and now I wish I had ones WITH denominations. It fine to say that the red are , the green are , etc., but after you've been playing a while, or have a few drinks in you, you tend to forget what is what. The next set I buy will have denominations on them. I just think it is easier that way.

  4. QUESTION:
    Looking for poker chips?
I'm looking for some high quality poker chips. More specifically, I'm looking for either a) larger than normal size chips, or b) bright, neon colored chips such as those used in the WSOP main event. I've been searching online and can't seem to find a set that I really like. They would be used for Texas Hold 'Em, and I would prefer chips with denominations (, , , , , etc). Anyone know where I could find them?

    • ANSWER:
I really like the chips they have at

      (NOT AFFILIATE LINKS BELOW)

      buypokerchips.com (archetype line)

      and

pokernstuff.com has some chips that are modeled after WSOP chips.

I have not tried any of these personally and I do not get a commission from posting these links (obviously.)

But the archetype line looks really cool and has good reviews and I think I will buy them later on.

      Good luck with poker!

  5. QUESTION:
How to distribute Texas Holdem Poker chips?
I've just received a set of poker chips with the following denominations:
    150-0
    150-0
    100-00
    50-00
    50-000

Is there a set structure for each player, or does it depend on nukber of players? I mean, if 2 people play, and then some other time 4 people play, would the amount of starting chips double? Is there a formula? Same as blinds. I know the basic rule is :
    25/50
    50/100
    100/200
    300/600
    400/800
    500/1000

Does this work? I know I have alot of questions but would trult be thankful for for answers and patients. Please advise. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      Hello friend.

For a STANDARD game, each player should start with about 100 times the ammount of the Big Blind.
If your chips are labelled as you say, I would start the blinds at 100/200 and give each player a stack of 20k.

For a TURBO game, you can vary the ammount from 50 to 75 BB to each players. The result will be a faster game with more pre-flop all-in action because the stacks are short compared to the blinds. Once the blinds reach the third level, which should be 300/600 in your case, the initial 10k stack represent not more than 16 BB, which will force more loose agressive action

      I hope it helped you.

  6. QUESTION:
how to distribute a 300 poker chip set?
hi. i just bought a 300 poker chip set with denominations 1000 (25 pcs), 500 (50 pcs), 100 (75 pcs), 25 (75 pcs), and 10 (75 pcs). what should my small and big blinds be and how many pieces of each denomination should each player get if i want to accomodate at least 4-6 players? i understand there should also be some left for buy-ins, so how should i go about it?

    • ANSWER:
Give each player 2x1000, 5x500, 10x100, 10x25, and 10x10. This will accomodate up to 7 players, and leave you with a good supply left for buy-ins.
Blinds could start at 10/20 and increase every few hands.

    • ANSWER:
It depends on if you want it for a tournament style game or a cash game. If it's just a cash game, you should have mostly lower denom chips. If it's a tournament, get 150 , 150 0, 100 0, and 50 00. Give each person 12 each of the and 0 for 00 in starting chips, and add a 0 chip or two if you want more.

  9. QUESTION:
I have a "Motown Legends Casino" poker chip. It has a 0 denomination on both sides. Where do i cash it in?
On the actual chip it says "www.motownlegendscasino.net ". I can't find a website about it. So why would there be poker chips made, unless for promotion, but with 0 denomination printed on it? It feels like a real chip, and looks legit.

    • ANSWER:
Check out the article below. This casino was slated to launch in February of 2006.

If you can't find them on the internet, that means they failed. You have a collector's item that's worth only as much as some schmuck will pay you. If you get 2 bucks from it, consider yourself lucky.

  10. QUESTION:
    poker tournament chip up question?
okay, so while hosting a poker tournament with increasing blinds, the low denomination chips become useless and thus will need to get cycled. i understand how to do that, but i end up after 2 chip ups and starting with 4 colors of chips, with only one color chip left. the highest that i start with is all i have left and i would like to keep multiple colors. can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

    • ANSWER:
If you start with the red chips = 5, and you race them up once those chips are useless, then fine. As long as you make sure they are all gone, then re-introduce the reds later, have them equal 1000.

If the Greens were 25, and you take them out of play when the blinds reach 200/400, then bring them back later equaling 5000 each.

      It's not that difficult...

Either that, or change the structure of your tournament. My home games start use 5,25,100,500 chips... and 12-20 players have 3000 to start, and our tourney's can go 5 hours, and we don't have to break out the 1000 denominated chips if we don't want to. Often we do just to help clean up, but I'd think you can figure out a way not to need a 5th color if you don't want.
